Why rotate

A one-degree tilt is the difference between a snapshot and a photograph

Phones guess orientation from a sensor and get it wrong often enough to matter. Rotating re-writes the actual pixels rather than an EXIF flag, so the image looks right everywhere — including in software that ignores orientation metadata.

Image Rotator questions

Does rotating lose quality?

A 90°, 180° or 270° rotation just moves pixels, so nothing is lost beyond the re-encode. A free angle resamples the image, which softens it very slightly — export as PNG if that matters.

Why does my rotated image have empty corners?

A rotated rectangle needs a larger canvas, and the new corners had no pixels. Pick a background colour to fill them, or export as PNG or WebP to keep them transparent.

How do I straighten a crooked photo?

Use the angle slider with the grid overlay on, line a horizon or building edge up with a grid line, then crop off the empty corners with the crop tool.

Can I fix an upside-down photo from my phone?

Yes — two 90° taps, or one 180°. Because the pixels themselves are rewritten, the fix survives upload to any app.
