Image Converter questions

Which format should I use?

WebP for almost everything on the web — it is roughly 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same quality and supports transparency. PNG for logos, icons and screenshots. JPG when maximum compatibility matters.

What happens to transparency when I convert to JPG?

JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you pick — white by default. Convert to PNG or WebP to keep the alpha channel.

Can I convert HEIC or RAW files?

Only if your browser can decode them, which most cannot for HEIC and RAW. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, SVG and (in modern browsers) AVIF are all supported as inputs.

Is converting lossless?

Converting to PNG is lossless. Converting to JPG or WebP re-encodes the pixels, so use the quality control to decide the trade-off — 80% and above is visually indistinguishable for most photos.
